This department was established in the early 50s of the 20th century. It mainly engages in the design of Surface mines and technical renovations of various stages. The surface mining division undertakes the design, consulting services in surface mining technology, mining method, production planning and management, and development of mining CAD software.
The division had independently designed surface mines such as Pingzhuan West, Beidaling, Xinqiu, Yima, Gongwusu, etc. After that, it completed the design of extra-large scale Pingshuo Antaibao Surface Coal mine and the renovation of Fushun West Surface Coal Mine in cooperation with American and German engineering consulting companies And we had completed the design of extra-large scale surface coal mines of Xiaolongtan Buzhaoba, Huolinhe No.1, Yiminhe No.1, Heidaigou Surface Coal mine of Zhunger, Yuanbaoshan and Pingshuo Anjialing, etc. Recently, we have completed the optimized technical renovation design with dragline for Heidaigou Surface Coal Mine, the designs of the No.1 Surface Mine of Shengli coal field, the Harwusu Surface Coal Mine of Zhunger coal field and the Zhahazhuor Surface Coal mine of Huolinhe coal field..
In recent years, we have greatly enlarged our design scope, actively participated in the competition in international markets for surface coal mine design, completed surface coal mine designs of TIGYIT in Myanmar, COLLOLAR in Turkey, a coal mine in Mongolia, SIKSIKA in Canada, JERRYPA in India and GRAND RIVER in Brazil. The undergoing project designs include surface coal mines in Pakistan and other countries.
We have completed 50 designs of different kinds of surface mines, of which 15 are of large scale surface coal mine with capacities of 5.0Mt/a and above, almost covering all large and medium scale surface coal mine in China. We also undertake the design of non-coal surface mines for metallurgical, chemical and construction material industries. The designs include multi-types of comprehensive mining technologies such as BWE - belt conveyor, shovel – truck, shovel – railroad, dragline and semi-continuous mining technology of shovel – mobile crushers.
